What happened:
Summer seemed to go very quickly. And it's been a weird one. Things of note, we had a lovely day exploring Hastings and St Leonards in the sunshine. And an afternoon exploring The Hannah Peschar Sculpture Garden.
Thoroughly explored the V&A, Science Museum and Natural History Museum to put together a scavenger hunt. Plus a lot of other things have been going on personally, but I'll maybe get to those another time.
What I ate:
June was super foodie with lunch at Lina Stores, brunch at Farm Girl (average), lunch at Heist Market in St Leonards (Calima for me; Clam for Olly), dinner at St Clements (another fab spot in St Leonards), the tasting menu with wine pairing at Gymkhana (yum but the service was a bit mixed for a two star Michelin restaurant), brunch at Hideaway, lunch at Phat Phuc Noodle Bar, dinner at Caso Do Frango, an anniversary dinner at The French Table (they have a fab tasting menu, if you go to Surbiton - lamb dish pictured below from it) and dinner at The Parrot in Forest Green (a yum country pub near the sculpture garden).
In July: Brunch at Brother Marcus, a fab katsu curry at Cacciari's Asia (pictured below - Bute Street is a great street for restaurants if you're exploring the museums in South Kensington), dinner at Dishoom and Bancone (always about that silk handkerchief pasta at the latter), a Sunday roast at Kapara (nice but we prefer their normal menu), and dinner at MEATliquor. Plus Bodean's at home, via Dishpatch.
In August: Thai food at Foley's, Italian at Di Vito in Leeds, steak at Flat Iron, fish and chips from French's in Wells-next-the-Sea, a full English breakfast at The Copper Kettle in Hunstanton, a Sunday roast at The Tiger Inn in East Dean, dinner at CDMX Tacos in Market Halls Victoria, lunch (again) at Phat Phuc Noodle Bar, dinner at Colonel Saab Trafalgar Square and a Sunday roast at The Flintgate in Weybridge. Plus a Paul Ainsworth monkfish feast at home, via Dishpatch.
What I watched:
Finished watching season three of Welcome to Wrexham and watched season 4, watched High Potential, Daredevil: Born Again, Death and Other Details,
Films: The Accountant, The Accountant 2, F1 (at the cinema), Superman (at the cinema), The Family Plan, See How They Run, The Fantastic Four (at the cinema), The Naked Gun (at the cinema) and Gladiator.
What I read:
In June I read 14 books and gave four stars to Blood of Hercules by Jasmine Mas, Chasing Shadows by Robert Bryndza and Diddly Squat: ‘Til The Cows Come Home by Jeremy Clarkson. In July I read 16 books and gave four stars to Knight's Ransom by Jeff Wheeler. And I also read 16 books in August, with four star ratings for The Ghostwriter by Julie Clark, Say You'll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez, The Eights by Joanna Miller and Deadly Fate by Angela Marsons.
How was your summer? x
