About me

In the beginning there was the word. Simple. But if you add another word to that word, then another... by the end you have a tweet, a blog post, or maybe even a book. That's what I do. Hi, my name's Elle.

I'm the author of Kept, Lost, B-Side and Found (the Arielle Lockley series), plus Geli Voyante's Hot or Not. I live in London with my boyfriend fiancé, Olly, and our British shorthair cats, Jasper and Juno. (We sadly said goodbye to Compy in 2021, but she made it to the grand old age of 17. Her early story here.) That's me above in Brooklyn the other year. I grew up in Yorkshire where I read a lots of books (obviously), then headed to Scotland for four years to read International Relations and Social Anthropology at the University of St Andrews. That also involved a lot of reading. 

I have to confess, some of the textbooks, journals and articles I had to read weren't *that* entertaining, so in the summer between my third and fourth year, when I should have been working on my dissertation, I turned my hand to writing my first chick lit book. The rest, as they say, is history - it took me several years after graduating to get my first book out there (and it wasn't the one I wrote that summer).

When I'm not writing, I love exploring new places, watching musicals on the West End, and eating yummy food. My favourite city is NYC, and my favourite countries are Japan, Vietnam, Iceland and Jordan.
