Rome was founded in 753 BC by twins Romulus and Remus on the top of Palatine Hill, and it's because of the Romans a lot of Western civilisation is like it is.

Today the gladiators at the Colosseum are for show and will never have to fight a bear or another gladiator, but they gather nevertheless.
