The month that was: August 2020

What happened:
August started with a trip to the Conservatory at the Barbican Centre, followed by a Dishoom brunch and cocktails at the Sky Garden. There was a heatwave, so I took a long weekend and we cycled to Battersea Park to enjoy the sunshine.

We headed to Kent for a family birthday BBQ, then did drinks later on that week at Gordon's Wine Bar to celebrate some more. Finally, we headed to SEA LIFE London Aquarium with our nephew, Olly's sister, and mum.

What I ate:
Started the month with brunch at Dishoom, and ended the month with dinner at Dishoom. In-between that, enjoyed the mighty Thali from Tandoor Chop House, had dinner at Wagamama with Jasmin, brunch at Carpenters Arms, did the Patty & Bun BBQ burnt ends kit at home, had lunch at Wahaca, and also enjoyed a superb Sunday roast at Blacklock (as always).

What I watched:
TV shows: finished season 1 of Community, watched the Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet quarantine episode, Street Food Latin America, For All Mankind (slow start but got nicely dramatic at the end), season 1 and 2 of Kidding (awesome), I Hate Suzie, plus started watching Ted Lasso and High Score

Films watched: Inferno, Babysplitters, The Aeronauts, Jumanji: The Next Level, Interstellar, Bridesmaids, Gemini Man, Entrapment, Driven and Black Panther. We also went to the cinema to see Tenet. The cinema! For the first time since February. Tenet was, of course, super complicated - and the sound mixing was very LOUD. Would need to see it again, really, to pass proper judgement.

What I read:
In August I read ten books and abandoned reading one book. Blood Orange by Harriet Tyce, Tell Me Your Secret by Dorothy Koomson, The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell and I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes were all 4* reads.

How was your August? x
