The Killers, Wembley 2013

Last Saturday my favourite band The Killers once again played in London, this time at Wembley Stadium. I hadn't actually bought tickets to go, which was quite silly of me, but somehow Lady Luck intervened. Thanks to T.G.I. Friday's, I found myself at Wembley anyway because I won their Twitter competition. Get me!

What can I say? As always, The Killers were awesome, and it was a great evening filled with amazing tunes, lasers and fireworks. They even surprised us by covering Tiffany's "I Think We're Alone Now" - a-huh - but, not only that, went one step further and actually wrote a special Wembley song which paid tribute to the venue, other bands, but also rather touchingly to another hero of mine, the much-missed Freddie. Day-ooooooh!

Simply brilliant. Are you a fan of The Killers? x

Weekend of win - June 2013

This weekend has been one of win, albeit an exhausting one! Friday night kicked off with dinner at Cây Tre, followed by drinks on the river with friends who were over from Dublin.

On Saturday, thanks to T.G.I. Friday's, we headed over to Wembley to see my favourite band The Killers play.

After a rocktastic Saturday night, today was a stark contrast... We visited Hampton Court Palace, which was much less rock-and-roll!

I'll be sharing more about it all on the blog next week, but I hope you've all had a lovely weekend. x

The Book of Mormon review

I am a big fan of musicals and I'm also a big fan of South Park... When I heard that Matt Parker and Trey Stone had released a musical and it was coming to the West End, I knew I had to go and see it.

Luckily for me, Olly booked us tickets to go and see The Book or Mormon back in January... Yes, that's right: January. June was the earliest availability they had back then so it was a very pre-planned anniversary treat he arranged. (Saying that though, he had to book months in advance for last year's anniversary treat of Le Gavroche - can we go there again soon? Please!)

After five and a half months of waiting, earlier this week we finally got to go and see The Book or Mormon at the Prince of Wales Theatre. As you would fully expect from Parker and Stone, The Book of Mormon has lots of outlandish jibes in it and is incredibly un-PC. But, as always, their writing is set up so perfectly and cleverly that they get away with it; you will be clutching your side from laughing too hard, believe me!

The Book of Mormon is a delight, and I really fell in love with Elders Price and Cunningham. The score is amusing, the set is artfully done, and the sheer campness and outrageousness of it made me grin my head off. It also made me want to find out a bit more about the Mormons and their beliefs - I did study them a bit as part of the "Founding of the American West" unit in my GCSE History course, but I can barely remember anything as that was so long ago - and I like the fact that the Mormons don't seem to have reacted negatively to the musical. Instead, they have embraced it, even taking out advertising in the programme!

If you're a fan of Parker and Stone, as well as musicals, this is one you don't want to miss. Have you seen The Book or Mormon? If not, will you be seeing it? x

A new nest

At the weekend we said goodbye to our home in North London and headed south of the river. The move was super straightforward and we enjoyed a glass (or three) of Veuve Clicquot in our lovely new Villeroy & Boch flutes to toast our future happiness.

We're all unpacked but we do need to pick up some bits and pieces. I'm after the perfect writing bureau where I can sit down and bash out future books... When I'm not sat in the garden, enjoying the sunshine, and maybe another glass or two of champagne, that is. x

This week...

This week has seen me buy a new Oyster card holder as my lovely little Chocolate Rain one was starting to look a little bit battered. Still, one of the London Underground map is highly appropriate for its replacement and only cost £4 from Paperchase, which just happens to be one of my favourite shops.

Paperback copies of Kept arrived, which are now signed and ready to be posted out to the Goodreads' winners. A big congratulations to the five winners; I'll be running another giveaway soon, don't worry!

This weekend we went to visit our new flat which, as you can see, has a gorgeous little garden. It's a complete change as we'll be moving from North London to South London, but we can't wait to move in next weekend. {^_^}

Finally, I cooked a new dish this weekend but changed the recipe slightly. This spice and honey salmon with couscous dish is delicious if you follow the recipe, I'm sure, but I changed the ras-el-hanout spice to a harissa marinade and added some fresh chili to the couscous. Yummy!

How has your week been? x

PS: Have you noticed the new blog design? What do you think? It was designed by the lovely Jen; if you need a new design for your Blogger blog, do contact her!

PPS: If you've read Kept, loved it and not yet left me a review... you know what to do. I've had so many awesome 5* reviews left this weekend - I'm utterly thrilled!
