Kept update

It's been nearly a month since Kept was released to the world and, I have to say, I'm thrilled with how people are reacting to it! I've had 11 lovely reviews on Amazon, all 4* and 5* reviews, and some really amazing comments left:

Arielle's inner dialogue was really funny, right up there with Bridget Jones.

Well written, highly descriptive and downright funny, Kept is a great read and I'm going to suggest it to all my girlfriends.
Kept is written from a refreshingly intellectual perspective, the language, tone and relatively complex story (written both in the form of flash-backs and current narrative) being aimed at ladies with brains and guts.

Brilliant read, down to earth, and refreshing, love the style of writing from this author and cannot wait for more books! This is a MUST read for everyone!

Amazing! In case you missed them - follow me on Twitter to make sure you keep up-to-date with everything I do - you can read interviews with me over on Book Chick City, as well as on Writesofluid.

For those of you who don't have a Kindle, I'm thrilled to say that Kept will be out in paperback this weekend! - how exciting! To celebrate that I'm giving away five signed copies over on Goodreads (UK, US and Canada only), so make sure you enter:

Thank you to everyone who has bought Kept, and a big thank you especially if you have reviewed it. I'm so glad you loved reading about the world of Arielle. For all of those who have asked, then yes! There will be a sequel out next year. {^_^} To keep you entertained until then though, make sure you buy Geli Voyante's Hot or Not when it's released this autumn. You'll love it, I promise. x

Musical review: Viva Forever

When it was announced last week that the Spice Girls musical Viva Forever would be closing down, I knew I had to see it whilst I still had the chance. See, it's written by bloody Jennifer Saunders of all people - Absolutely Fabulous is one of my favourite shows, ever - and is produced by Judy Craymer of Mamma Mia fame. In theory it had to be good... right? Right!?

The fact that it was closing after less than six months at the Piccadilly Theatre, speaks volumes, and I knew that deep down inside it wasn't going to be amazing. It really wasn't.

The plot is weak, the characterisation hideously wooden and it's all just a bit cringe-worthy. The characters seemed to be channelling Patsy and Eddie from Ab Fab, with a bit of Catherine Tate thrown in for good measure.

Act I was shockingly bad, which made Act II seem quite good, but only in comparison. Half the songs I didn't know, they ruined the ones I did and, it might be just me, but for a Spice Girls musical it seems somewhat cheating to include a solo single from Geri Halliwell when she quit the group.

It's booking until June 29th. Let's hope that unlike Thriller Live - which was cancelled, then Michael Jackson died and sales went through the roof - that it actually does close. Still, if you do decide to go, they will likely upgrade your tickets. We bought the cheapest tickets and ended up sitting in the stalls, five rows from the stage, because it was woefully empty in the stalls.

Have you seen Viva Forever, or will you be going before it closes? x

Temperate House, Kew Gardens

(Final Kew post! First two can be found here and here.)

At Kew Gardens you'll find Temperate House, as well as other glasshouses. Temperate House though is the largest surviving Victorian glasshouse in the world and it's definitely the most impressive. What do you think? x

Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens is 121 hectares big - that's a lot of nature to take in! I'd definitely recommend getting there as soon as you can so you can explore, explore, explore - take a picnic for when you get peckish or visit one of the restaurants and cafes dotted around. It costs £16 for adults to get in; children get in for free. x

Kew Palace and Gardens

Last summer you might remember we did our British summer? Well, I think the British summer is here once again! OK, it's hasn't been as hot as they forecast but it's not been freezing - I'll take that to mark the start of British summer 2013 and playing tourist! Yesterday we ventured south of the river to head to Kew, to Kew Gardens and Kew Palace to be more precise.

We have Historic Royal Palaces membership which means we get free entry to various attractions like the Tower of London and Kensington Palace. This used to include Kew Palace but you had to pay the entrance fee for Kew Gardens to access it. Now everyone who visits Kew Gardens gets free entry to the Palace. To be honest, we were much happier spending our time exploring the Garden - far more impressive than the Palace!

The Gardens are absolutely stunning and if it wasn't for it being directly underneath Heathrow's flightpath then you could easily forget you were in London. I'll let the stunning photos do the talking for Kew Gardens but my favourite parts were the Japanese landscape and gateway, and Temperate House. Have you visited? x

(OK, we took far too many amazing photos - more to follow tomorrow!)

Leap and land. {^_^} More photos tomorrow. x
